At a Community Council meeting, the West Susitna Access Project was brought up and the question was whether the PMCC should make our preferences known to the Borough and the State in the form of a proclamation or other communication with regards to the overall project and/or the preferred route of the access road. The project is listed under the State’s 24-27 Statewide Transportation and Improvement Plan (STIP) ID 34206 and described as Construct(ing) a new road connecting the contiguous highway system to State recreation lands west of the Susitna River. Construct a boat launch facility accessing the Susitna River.
This project could potentially have a large impact on our neighborhood as one of the potential access options is to extend the road from Ayrshire Rd which would mean even more traffic on KBG, Point MacKenzie Road and Ayrshire Road. A committee of residents was formed to further investigate the project in order to 1) make a recommendation as to whether the Council will support a proposed route, 2) what that recommendation will be and 3) the form of support in terms of a formal Council proclamation or informal engagement with our elected representatives or Mat-Su and SOA Department heads.
Plan, initiate and supervise any and all work activities at the community center, playground area and mailbox clusters.
